La Jolla – Home to Swimmers

Since 1916, swimmers, surfers, and beach goers who live in La Jolla have enjoyed the La Jolla Rough Water Swim.  This tradition community event is celebrating its 81st year on Sunday, September 11th.  Over two thousand swimmers are expected to be in attendance.  You can be a part of the fun by cheering them on!  The swim begins and ends at La Jolla Cove, near your La Jolla home.

Juniors (children) begin the race at 8 a.m. and Amateurs swim between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Masters Events for men and women begin at 9:30 a.m., as does the Gatorman event.  Awards will be given at the conclusion of the event to the first five finishers in each events and all finishers will receive a medal.  To learn more about this longtime La Jolla event, please click here.
